Asphyxiater

Asphyxiater is a weapon made for a fan-made halo project called Iron Hammer. The Asphyxiater is a Brute gas grenade that is a dual operated system designed to effectively clear out an area with brutal results. Once activated, the deadly flammable gas is released which will cause enemies caught in it's expelled gases to start to suffocate and become disorientated. After the device has fully been expelled all the gas from the container in a very large area, the electrical device attached will set off and ignite the fumes causing an heated explosion that will burn anyone caught within the explosive area doing deadly harm. The gas can also be ignited early by incendiary weapons if you are quick enough to react. With brutes having very hairy bodies, this is very dangerous to them as well which is why it was used often against each other during Jiralhanae clan rivalry. The weapon goes by many nicknames by the Brutes such as the suffocater, strangler, and choker. The Asphyxiater was more of a high risk, high reward weapon as it could encompass a far larger area in fire and much quicker compared to the later developed Brute Firebomb grenades, that would require about a dozen to do the same effect. Bute since Firebombs were lighter, smaller, and easier to carrier, 2 Firebombs vs 1 Asphyxiater, it became more preferable in most combat situations. It was also quicker to just activate and throw and detonate on contact which make it harder to stop vs the Asphyxiater could be stopped in the process of expelling the gas, which lead to it becoming obsolete by the time the Brutes joined the Covenant.
